I have a list of movies that I sometimes listen to in the background when I'm drawing or doing something else around the house. They're for the most part old movies that I can watch over and over and never get tired of or just give me a sense of calm or nostalgia.

My mother was a youth of the eighties and I watched a lot of those, so many are now on my 'comfort' list. Some of these (and others not from the eighties) include:

Mystic Pizza (Coming-of-age)
Sense and Sensibility (Low-key classic)
A Patch of Blue (Bittersweet but engaging tale)
Murphy's Romance (Realistic no-frills romance)
Company of Wolves (Fantasy with a feminist bent)
John Carpenter's The Fog (Love the music in this classic horror)
Earth Girls Are Easy (It's such a pleasure to watch this one; always funny)
Stephen King's Silver Bullet (Cheesy but it's my favourite werewolf film of all time)
Stephen King's Rose Red (Very long if you're going to be busy all day and want a film on)
John Carpenter's Halloween (I really like the trees and build-up music in the early segments of the film)

What are some of your favourite 'comfort' films that you can watch over and over or like to use as background noise for other activities? Also, you can add what you like about the films or why these seem to comfort you. Please share a few, I'd like to add to my list!

My go-to movies, are: Night at the Museum 1 & 2 (haven't seen / don't own 3), The Fugitive, Rambo 1 & 2 (I own 3, also, but I don't like it, as much), Arthur 1 & 2. Other favorites include The Shawshank Redemption (I haven't watched it, in awhile, though), and Love Actually (I only just watched it, recently, as a tribute to Alan Rickman, and I'll be watching it several more times, now, for him----plus, the Director's Commentary is one of the best, EVER, IMO).

I used to love stuff like The Dead Zone, and the original The Hitcher, years ago, but I guess I watched them too much.

Today, I tend to like

The Empire Strikes Back
Return Of The Jedi
Beat
Kill Your Darlings
Naked Lunch

Those last three shows I'm in a beatnik mood these days.
