No, I don't think that he should get rid of it. The main problem that I have with CAPTCHA is that my post disappears after I've filled it in correctly and then I have to resubmit and do the CAPTCHA all over again. I wouldn't actually mind filling in the CAPTCHA if it actually allowed posts to go through after it was filled correctly, so maybe Alex should just fix that problem instead and then I would have no more issues with CAPTCHA.

I envy you for that.

Get rid of it for a period of time until it can be completly reconfigured to work with Wrong Planet's software.

I find it really annoying, but that doesn't mean that it should be gotten rid of. I really don't know what other options there are, or if those options would even be more effective.

They're causing lots of problems but only for users who aren't spammers so I see no reason to have them.

it is literally destroying the site,

it takes like 20 minutes to get a post to go thru sometimes

Alex should buy some real forum software and support

It's not Alex's fault, it's CloudFlare's. And getting rid of CloudFlare would be bad since it would open Wrong Planet up to denial of service attacks.

The capatcha should be implemented as a phpBB mod (3.0.x) or phpBB extension (3.1.x). I could take into consideration membership status like post count and join date.

The current solution is too amateur and crude.

This is not a compulsory setting in CloudFlare. Anti-dos is different issue.

Ah. I wonder, how are spam bots getting around the CAPTCHA? I mean, if it's not keeping out the spam bots, and making posting frustrating for normal users, then why keep it?

the site is almost unusable right now, takes me like 20 tries to get past that capatcha

alex should put some of the money he makes off the site back into it, it's been falling apart for years

a vB license is worth it
