I'm not complaining or anything, but I think WP is too focused more on aspies than regular autistic people.

I'm 99.9% sure I'm classed as 'High Functioning Autistic'.

There is also low functioning autism & aspergers.

Is there a classification in the middle as well, called regular autism?

This nomenclature is getting pretty confusing. Can somebody clear it up for me. Cheers. 8)

If you're a part of other online communities frequented by auties, why not invite them here? The same thing for auties you know in real life. This is a great community. There's an aspie focus now because most people on here are aspies. If more auties joined, the balance would shift.

I am not saying I disagree, but this is a site dedicated to those with Asperger's Syndrome. It says so in the title and tag line. "Wrong Planet: The online resource and community for those with Asperger's Syndrome"

Yeah the site does seem rather focused on aspies but they are the most common manifestation of autism after all.

Being a minority within a minority means you dont get catered to a lot but at least we're welcome here :P

Read the entire description:
"Wrong Planet is a web community designed for individuals (and parents of those) with Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, ADHD, and other PDDs. We provide a forum, where members can communicate with each other, an article section, where members may read and submit essays or how-to guides about various subjects, and a chatroom for real-time communication with other Aspies. Asperger's Syndrome, a pervasive development disorder, is a form of autism. People with Asperger's Syndrome usually have normal or above normal IQs. It is described as an inability to understand how to interact socially."
Emphasis mine. -- Richie

I was reading on Wikipedia and it says that doctors don't differentiate between Aspergers and HFA, it says they refer to them both as HFA. There are a lot of similarities.

roygerdodger,

WHAT do you think would be different? It is starting to talk a LOT about autistic things.

Okay, and while we're at it, can we make NASCAR more appealing to minorities, and get more Sunnis behind the Iraqi government?

the reason this site focuses on AS a lot is because a lot of aspies come on here and post about their issues and difficulties

why dont you try posting about "autie" issues or try making a shoot off of an AS thread... like if that kinda makes sense to you but gives you another idea that applies to autism other than AS

i think you posted something similar a while ago and im glad that you're posting more in general but you should start asking specific questions or things you wonder about yourself...

thats why i love this website, cause its the first place ive found i can relate to the day-to-day stuff.

go out on a limb and try sharing something

(and dont be discouraged if not many people post a reply.... ive had many faile or ignored threads lol)

well my guess is most people who have autism cant speak or write, so one of there concerns isnt to get on the internet. so thats why they are not here

Actually youd be suprised how many can write even if they cant speak (provided they have an interest in doing so).

Eh basically.. its in homage to the common perception among autistics that humans ("normal" ones at least) make no sense and are like aliens.. but since they are the majority we must be the aliens stuck on the wrong planet.

Hence the name.

The site's called that because, being so different, you often feel like you're on the wrong planet, hence the pun.

Welcome, BTW!
