Is there anyone here, that has experienc with ritalin or outher medicatiens? I have diagnoes ADHD, but I dont take medications. One off the main reason that I dont take any drugs, is that I have a big fear off my healty. Like.. What is going to happen to my heart? What is going to happen with my body? I dont wanny die or soemthing, or constanly feeling sick. What is the side afect?

I have try to read about this on the internet for a loong time konw, but it seams like everyon that I have been reading about, only hade bed experienc. Is there any good reason to take medication?

My terapis has been trying to tell me forma loong time konw, that I should take medication for my ADHD. But im afrid I am going in a trap or soething. Its not always that medication can fix a problem, but also I am constatly restless. And my consetation is realy bad. If all goes after the plan, I am gonna start study after the summer, I have to konw that I sjould go for the medication or not.

I've been on Strattera which is a nonstimulant ADHD med. It made it alittle harder for me to focus but I was on other meds at the time. Different people can respond very differently to most any medication. The only way to know for sure how something will affect you is to try it yourself. You can always quit if you notice any problematic side-effects that won't go away after a short time & you can ask your doc if you can have regular appointments to monitor how the med is affecting you & do blood test & stuff.

I'm on Adderall for ADHD, and off-label for Depression.

It only causes problems for the heart on rare occasions in very large doses, but if you start at very small doses and only take as much as the doctor prescribes, you'll be fine. If you notice any uncomfortable palpitations at a low dose, you can just stop taking it.

To me, Adderall has very few negative side effects. It does make you stay awake (like caffeine), so just don't take it after 2pm. For some people, it does cause more irritability and anxiety, but for me, it has reduced both of those things.
