I'm starting to like shorter games.

I just loaded Monster Hunter 4U and did a quick quest of kill 5 (dinosaur monsters). Fine done turn off 3DS. With a Pokemon title beat a gym and turn it off or go to an area catch a Pikachu on that route then turn it off. (No OMG! story to follow or anything confusing).

The same for Mario and collecting stars or a Zelda and beating a dungeon they have save anywheres so they fit into a quick life style vs. hours upon hours at the t.v.

Fire Emblem a quick chapter (if you can get through them quick).

Not LONG open world games/RPGS etc.

Plus these games last a good while.

You after beating them there are still 700+ Pokemon to catch if you chose or harder monsters you can catch (in both Pokemon and Monster Hunters case.) :-) That lend to replayability.

Yeah. I stopped playing long-winded games myself long ago; typically this means anything that focuses on story too much.

I play alot of arcade-ish games, things like shmups, or roguelikes (which are great no matter how much time you have available), or assorted other things. I tend to gravitate towards games with procedural content, rather than pre-made stuffs. I love the exploration aspect in games, but in non-procedural games, that aspect is completely gone once you've explored the game exactly once. So I tend to stick to the other sort.

And if it doesnt have an absolute boatload of replayability... I typically just dont bother.

Shorter campaigns can be fun if you do not have a lot of time, I recently started playing Bioshock Infinite on hard and it doesn't require hundreds of hours to learn.

I play longer games still as it's hard to shrug off addiction to Dragon Quest 8 but overall yeah longer games don't seem to be as fun anymore and developers i think are aggravating the problem by artificially lengthening the games when it's clear the game is well over and done with.
