This has been bugging me for a while. I know that fantasies have something to do with ego mania and that makes me feel anxious and guilty. I've been doing it my whole life. About fictional worlds I like such as movies or with musicians or being a rock star or having funny or loving or deep conversations with friends I have, ect. I'm worried I may have NPD. My psychiatrist says that's not the case, and so do the people I love, and my therapist, but I can't shake it. Do you fantasize often too?

This is another move from accidentally having this on a different topic. Sorry.

I have little adventures by myself in my head almost everyday, complete with dialogue between multiple characters.

If you're worried you have NPD, then you most likely don't have it. Having internal fantasies are normal, especially for autistic individuals.

I fantasize about other worlds and daydream all the time, and I'm perfectly fine. Fantasies have nothing to do with ego mania.

I daydream and fantasize a lot. It is healthy and normal...generally. But we're not supposed to know the difference between fantasy and reality.

We use it to escape our mundane or harsh reality. In daydreams things are easily solved and the impossible is always possible. For years I've daydreamed about having my cartoon drawings animated into a TV show or a movie or even a video game. I know it's not ever going to happen but I can still dream.

I fantasize and daydream a lot especially when I'm out in the streets.

I also daydream and fantasize a lot. I make up characters and scenarios and "worlds" relating to my interests. I also make up scenarios with people I like or am obsessing over.

I do this a lot also.

I especially enjoy watching films and then exploring their world in my head.

I always feel better when I've been daydreaming for a few hours.

Do you whisper the dialogues? I do.

I do this all the time. Everyone daydreams, and I read somewhere that aspies often have daydreams that are more persistant like having immaginary realms that are frequently visited.

I daydream in episodes... i.e. I stop when I get bored or have to do something else, and then continue from where I left off in the story the next time.

I sometimes end up writing lists and stats and stuff specifically for certain daydreams too... I have so many excel speadsheets lying around for specific daydreams XD

I do this all the time. More than I live in the real world. Unfortunately mine are more like daymares most often.

Back in middle school and high school I would daydream, but they would be about the class. I wouldn't even know I was daydreaming until the teacher caught me.

ah, brings back memories from kindergarten when I would sit and stare through the large floor-to-ceiling panorama classroom windows to the horizon beyond, I would just [in my mind] float to the sky and clouds and frolic about- an earthquake coulda happened in the meantime and i'd be oblivious to it, i'd just be floating around in those glorious puffy ethereal clouds of heaven, that is what they seemed like to me at the time. my teachers told my parents, "all he does in class is daydream and stare out the window."
