I currently live in Spain and due to the change of language and getting to adapt to a new country (I lived in USA for 10 years) I wasted 5 years trying to finish high school (Bachillerato in Spain). I really don't like studying and I would only like to study for one year to get a job cause I don't want to work at a restaurant or cleaning but my mom is forcing me to spend 2 more years in Spain to study more. I really don't like living in Spain and would like to move to another english speaking country like England. My mom is stubborn and says that I won't be going anywhere and must stay here. I don't know what to do, I'm 22 years old and want to live on my own and work but she won't let me, what can I do? I don't want to upset her and I've never even had a job or lived by myself before.

Hey :)
Im not sure what to suggest, but how about trying to ask your mum what job she is wanting you to get and how studying for 2 years will help you achieve that. Then you could tell her you're ide job and explain how one year of studying will suffice for the area of work you want to get into?

I could calmly explain and talk to her like that, I'm going to try it out.

I just wanted to chime in. Later on, after you study for a year and get your job, if for some reason that doesn't work out or you want more, you can go back to school. LOTS of people do that. It's not like you have this small window of time to go to school and if you don't, that's it.

You could tell your mom to trust you and let you do things your way first, and if it doesn't work out, you will try things her way.
