I'm a white male, but none of my friends are.

Since about high school, the friends I've made and ones I still talk to today are anything but white males.

My best (one) friend from high school moved here from Taiwan when he was about 12. My best friend from college is a woman whose parents moved here from India. When I worked in restaurants, I got along pretty well with the latinos working there, and they even invited me to a party. I met my wife in Japan. Most recently, some African Americans have been very friendly to me.

I love the friends I do have, and I am in no way complaining.

But I think this is curious. I probably come across more white males every day than any other kind of person. But I never seem to connect with them.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

I've had friends and girlfriends of different friends and ethnicities. I'm white.

Out of maybe 30 people I work with, 3 are white. Most are black and Hispanic.
