The UK Government has ignored the public poll to name their new 200M£ Arctic research ship.

The name Boaty McBoatface is dead... with the public being unhappy.

The new name is Sir David Attenborough the famous UK environmentalist.

Long Live Boaty McBoatface

At least they named it after a respectable person though.

Absolutely, Attenborough's work is wonderful and I really enjoy his narrations of nature documentaries. I just found Boaty McBoatface to be hilarious.

Too bad it isn't a yacht, because we could call it the Flying WASP.

You kinda lost me here.

WASP as in "White Anglo Saxon Protestant"?

Also the populist name would set a bad precedent.

The next craft could be named something like "Let's All Get Shipfaced!".

Or (since a ship's propeller is called a "screw") you might end up with " Let's Get Shipfaced, and Screw"
