Makes more sense that the State assigning gender to people via the quick observation of the birth doctor.

I totally agree. I would like when I do have to fill out applications not to be forced into the box of male or female. That forces me in the position of having to choose based on what parts I have and I don't base my identity off what I have between my legs.

The male and female boxes are relics, remnants of a time when there was a considerable legal difference between the two. If we are going to even pretend that isn't so, if we are as a society going to move forward with the idea that men and women are equal, those boxes lose much of their import.

I shared this with an agender person I know and they said they can't fully acknowledge them as non-binary because they didn't have "work done to make the body agender". Anyone know any other agender people?

One of my closest friends is agender.

And that is a very "binary" way of thinking with your friend's response.

No trans or nonbinary person has to have "work" done to be valid in their identification. That's exactly the type of thinking that denies transgender people being treated equally in society because people are constantly trying to put us in a box and say we have to either transition to male or female or look a certain way to be who we are. That kind of thinking is dangerous and harmful to people because NO ONE should have to be a certain way or have a certain type of surgery or treatment just to be who they are but if they wish to have surgery or hormone therapy or voice training or whatever that is at their own choice and discretion and no one has the right to tell them so otherwise.

Somehow when they said that I managed to brush over it and say "this is just the beginning, most people don't acknowledge alternative gender identities and just call it mentally disturbed". I didn't even think of it all till you mentioned it. The reason why I asked if there were other agender people around is because I was curious to whether they all felt that way. Gender is really complex sometimes so it could be just their interpretation of it while another could have a different interpretation of it.
