The NES or the Nintendo? Back in the day, it was commonly referred to as the Nintendo. However nowadays calling it such can cause confusion leading someone to ask "which Nintendo console?"

I just said Nintendo about the NES until the SNES came out, and after that, I have referred to them by the console's name. I still catch myself calling the DS/ 3DS Gameboy though. Nintendo's handhelds will always be Gameboy to me.

"Nintendo" is a bit ambiguous because the Nintendo 64 is also often referred to as a "Nintendo". Do you say the individual letters, like "N, E, S", or do you pronounce it like "ness"? I say the individual letters, but I've heard people say "ness" before.

I used to call my first DS a Nintendo, instead of a DS.

Cut me some slack, I thought the DS was Nintendo's only system, and I was a little kid!

I've never even considered calling it anything but Ness (and Sness).

I normally call it the N-E-S, but when I was younger and the SNES and N64 came out a lot of people called it "Regular Nintendo". Back then the new consoles were very expensive so a lot of people still had their NES. Not my brother and me, however, we sold our NES and all the games so we could buy a Sega Genesis, which was pretty much at its peak of success at the time we got it. I remember younger kids just calling it Sega, which really annoyed me, maybe because I knew Sega used to have other consoles like Game Gear and the Sega Master System.

I used to call it a Nintendo or Original Nintendo, and the SNES was the Super Nintendo. Then time went on and we started calling it a NES and a SNES.

NES nowadays. As a kid when it was my first system, it was just Nintendo (and every single Sega system was just Sega, because I never owned one and didn't know the differences too well).

When I got an SNES, that was the Super Nintendo (I still usually call it that), and the NES was the Regular Nintendo.

Yes, I also called it Nintendo when it was my first console. It only became NES after the SNES was out, and it took a little while until they became NES and SNES rather than Nintendo and Super Nintendo.

I also just called that other consoles Atari, Amiga and Sega because I never owned any of them.

When I was a kid, we often just called it the "old Nintendo" versus the "Super Nintendo".

I used to call the NES Nintendo when I was a kid and everyone knew what game console I meant by that.
I now refer to it by saying NES. Calling it Nintendo would only confuse people today and they would ask which Nintendo I am talking about.
