Has anyone's kids taken the "ACCUPLACER" exam? What is the best way to prepare?
Thanks  :)

Never heard of it.

I would assume that you prepare similar to how one prepares for the SAT or ACT.

Is this the one that you take when you start college so they can tell you what math class to start with?

I'll tell you what I did. I took it cold. And then I started the level below the level they told me to. I had a horrible math phobia and I wanted to start with some measure of success before I got to math that I knew was going to be very hard for me. I am very glad I did it that way.

I don't think you should try to prepare for exams that tell you where your appropriate placement should be. I think it is more dangerous to get placed at an inflated level than it is to get placed in a "too easy" level. Just go in and find out where you belong.

My son took it as part of entering an early college high school program. I believe there are practice tests available online. It is a placement test, so I wouldn't try to "game" it too much.
