Fault and Peppa Talk of a Harvard study linking the popular British children’s show “Peppa Pig” to autism has gone viral, but neither the study nor the scientist who allegedly published it exists. - Snopes

I don't know what's sadder, that there are people who believed that nonsense, or that there are actual so called experts who've made claims which are almost as ridiculous as this

Quote:
On 20 October 2016, the website Morning News USA published a story reporting that a popular children’s television character named Peppa Pig caused children to develop autism by inspiring them to replicate her irreverent attitude toward authority

Inspiring people to replicate irreverent attitude towards authority?
This litterally implies that the kid chooses to be autistic.

Quote:
It said that watching Peppa Pig was one of the main causes of autism among children.

*facepalm* ill just shut up

I am a baby boomer. The very popular child rearing books of Dr. Benjamin Spock were blamed for the hippies, the anti war movement, the sexual revolution etc. They were blaming the "refrigerator mothers" for autism back then, but it was the fault of the permissive, commie doctor who posioned our mothers minds. :D

A teacher at my school accused my mother of causing my autism? "Refrigerator Mother Theory" is one of the reasons that for a while I was a Holocaust Denier as I felt simply due to the fact that the guy was taken seriously was a reason why people where putting to much faith in the idea Survivors all fine examples of humanity and then I realized I was 25 and was time to stop being an edgy teenager. By the way the guys wiki page is sympathetic last time I looked?

I wished i lived in the world that Peppa pig lives in.
Where pigs and other animals are nice to each other etc.
And where their arn't any psycho nut cases trying to murder the weak,
the vulnerable and kind of heart.

*facepalm*

Peppa Pig acts like a kid. OK, a really well-mannered, basically very docile kid (at least, if my kids are anything to go by-- I would die of joyful shock if #3 actually acted like Peppa Pig). But-- a kid.

My possibly autistic four-year-old watches the show a lot. A whole lot.

Watching Peppa Pig also causes children to want to jump up and down in muddy puddles.

No, wait, that's just fun. Let's go jump in muddy puddles!!

Well, a few people believe that traffic causes autism, apparently. Don't remember where I read that, but I did.

We also watch a lot of Peppa Pig in our household. So far, it has not turned my son or myself autistic. But we will keep trying.
