Why does CloudFlare keep causing the site to crash?

Because CloudFlare sucks.

Though...Tor users might be happy about one improvement:

I didn't think CF is the cause, it usually displays the cached version of the front page or such as far as I know...

Otherwise, blame this site's ridiculously shabby setup... Alex seems to only change superficial designs (recently effectively hiding the link to messages at the top, which isn't progress), not performance or actually useful functions (some options in preferences do not work)...

Hey! Don't get mad at Alex! It says "Cloudflare" when the site crashes, so it's not his fault! :(

I haven't really had any problems with it lately, though I haven't been on WP in a while up until today either. So far things seem to work just fine.

Next time it happens, I'll screenshot my ipad and post it here.

Believe it or not, but there's actually a lot of work that goes into keeping this site online. We deal with monitoring alerts for issues 24x7x365 (the site is monitored by 20+ geographic locations every 60 seconds, and I get paged when something is wrong). We also work to proactively resolve issues as they're reported in this section of the forum. The Cloudflare issues we've seen this week have been due to what appear to be specially crafted Denial of Service attacks.

I'm guessing you've gotten really sick of people here complaining about CloudFlare?
