Hi I'm new!
I've been waiting for a diagnosis for 2 years now, relying on an underfunded and overworked charity. They are, and I am 99% sure I have Asperger's syndrome.
The only close relationship I've ever had failed partly due to my 'quirks' earlier in the year and I'm feeling incredibly sad and lonely. The medication I'm taking for anxiety helps take the edge off though.
Anyway, hello, it's nice to find this forum.

Hello. Also Scottish. Also awaiting diagnosis. Hope you get yours soon. Two years seems a long time to have to wait.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Until recently the charity had one person qualified to diagnose people and she was working part time. There are ways to jump the queue, either by paying, being suicidal or in a bad way. I'm probably doing okay compared with some, my life is chaotic but I'm relatively stable and independent.

fourcandles, which route are you taking for diagnosis?

I spoke to my doctor and gave her a list of reasons why I thought I might have Asperger's Syndrome. She thought so too and referred me to a psychiatrist for diagnosis. I've been waiting three months and haven't heard anything so far, but I know of people on this site from the UK who have waited up to three years.

Aye, it's looking like 3 years for me as well. Hope you get a diagnosis sooner than that.
I mentioned Asperger's to my GP and didn't get taken seriously at all.

Where do the Scots among us live? I am 20 miles north of Inverness.

Hope you have a good time. It's a beautiful city and there's plenty to see.

You might want to google "dreich" though. It's pretty much our default setting for weather.

I'm rather outraged on your behalf. Two years is a lot of developemental time for a teenager! I can see waiting that long as an adult. That's just part of adult life, but we should really be doing better for our kids than that.

How are you doing in school? Are you one of those aspies who does ok without support? Or are you getting support anyways, even without the diagnosis?

Oh! Sorry. I misread your number of posts for being your age. It was 14 before you wrote this. Now it's 15. Good thing we don't age with our post numbers. I would be 400 some odd by now.

Yup, that's caught me out too. I wish a diagnosis had been available when I was younger, I saw psychologists and psychiatrists, no one picked up on it.
