Hey-I'm kinda new here . Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am 19 years old, and I have Type One Diabetes. I have been diagnosed since I was 3 1/2 years old. I am a very brave person. I have an insulin pump and a sensor that keep me alive. Trouble is, living with this disease is not always easy. :( I can't always eat the same foods you guys can  , and my blood sugars can get out of whack sometimes. But, all in all, I am a very healthy person, my weight is okay, my BG levels are usually pretty good, and I am not losing hope. I know that deep down in my heart, someone, someday, will find a cure, and this illness will end once and for all (No more calluses...Just imagine... :) ). :D

It's good that you have hope.

I too am type 1, for thirty years now. I find Aspergers is actually useful for handling the condition, although it still knocks me down from time to time. You're right too - the odds on cure or at least palliative treatment in your lifetime are climbing all the time.

That's thirty years and no degenerative symptoms yet, by the way
