Depends. If you were to use an non-motorized mower, I can't imagine you'd get anything more than a few odd looks; that is if anyone even noticed in the first place. Mind you if you were to use a motorized mower, you could definitely expect noise complaints from the neighbours, and a visit from the ol' 5-0!

I don't think it's a very good idea. It's best to do it during the day.

If nobody hears you mowing at 1 AM, its okay.

If it wakes people up, it's not okay.

If the crickets don't mind then close the mail box. So long as the can't hear you, you'll be fine. I do it every weekend.

No. In some places, it's even illegal. It would break noise ordinances. I guess it might be OK if you use the old non-motorized type of mower, and you have space inbetween you and the neighbor. But who does that anymore? I don't know anyone who has an non-motorized mower anymore.

I'm actually having murderous feelings just reading this thread. That there is anyone in the world that thinks this is acceptable feels like a problem needs to be fixed. It's just a really great way to get anyone who lives within a mile of you to hate you and want to start a neighbor war.

If you want your neighbors to hate you. I don't even put my trash out if its after 11 because the neighbors are so uptight.

Remember, guys: I only advocated him mowing the lawn at 1 AM if the neighbors couldn't hear him.

The criteria for this: They would probably have to live at least about 1/10 of a mile, or about 2 city blocks, away from him.

I the quiet of the night, you can hear those motors for at least 1/4 a mile, loud enough to keep many people awake. If you have bat ears like me, its at least 1/2 mile. That's why they make local ordinances against it.

My family lives out on a farm in Illinois. Their nearest neighbor is 1/2 a mile away, and is related by blood. Maybe they could get away with it. But how many people really live that isolated anymore?

If you want to stop living then by all mean mow your lawn at one AM, and provoke your neighbors to lynch you.

One of my neighbors was using power tools, maybe a saw, at 2am. I'm pretty sure he's a tweeker though. Someone ended up calling the cops on him
