Come fall 2017, assuming interviews go well, I will be working as a high school science teacher. What advice can you give a person with high-functioning autism about 1) interpersonal communication (with students, fellow teachers, parents, etc.); 2) developing rapport with students; and 3) showing enthusiasm for a topic that I really enjoy. Student teaching could have gone much better.
After evaluations, I am lacking confidence in these arenas. While I've taught at the collegiate level, high school is a different story. I will have less autonomy, more social interaction, and greater responsibility. I know I can do it if I practice between now (Jan. 2017) and August 2017.
I would really appreciate any first-hand advice, articles, books, etc.
