I keep hearing this accusation all over the world wide web. Some people get quite emotional about the alleged hack. They even go so far as to say it was an act of war.

Is there any evidence this hack happened?
Is there any evidence this hack didn't happen?
If the hack happened, how was it done?
How is it possible to hack a paper ballot?

The Russian-Hackers Narrative is nothing more than a whole bunch of Manufactured Sensationalism; Next thing you know they're going to start telling us that Vladimir Putin shot lasers out of his eyes to take down a whole entire U.S. Military Faction and try to claim that he's now some sort of super-villain with super-human powers.

John Podesta who was Clinton's campaign manager received a type of phishing scam email that's been around for about 20 years, asking him for his password, which he gave out.

Then whoever got the password, used it to open up a whole bunch of personal emails written by Clinton and her staff, which said some really bad stuff. So then these emails were sent to Wikileaks and published to the public.

So that's it. That's the big bad cyberattack espionage hacking, supposedly done by Putin. But it also could have easily been done by a 12 year old kid using proxy headers to make it look of Russian origin.

No solid empirical forensic evidence has been presented to connect the phishing scam to Russia. The official intelligence department report only contains circumstantial evidence and conjecture.

But that won't stop certain people from insisting that Putin is 100% responsible for Trump being president. Rather than just accept that Clinton ran a bad and unsuccessful campaign.

What did the emails say?

Why would the Russians prefer Trump being the president of the US over Clinton?

Podesta got a fake email made to look like it came from Google, because he used a gmail account (lol) saying he had been hacked and needed to confirm his password. Rumor has it his password was P@ssword (lol). It's a very old trick to get info out of someone and usually comes from third world rinky dink theft outfits.

Why Putin would want Trump as President is because he did not like Clinton and vice versa. Also there's the rumor that Putin and Trump have a 'bromance', Putin has info to blackmail Trump with so Trump will do what Putin wants, Trump is weak and Putin can use him like a puppet and so on.

I meant what were the really bad things Clinton said in her leaked emails? Did she do something dishonest?

All US intelligence agencies have said that the Russian government, under the direct order of Putin, hacked into the campaign email systems of both the DNC & RNC, with the purpose of looking for info to try to make Clinton look bad and help Trump win. Lindsay Graham has also said they hacked his computer as well.

They also attempted to hack into the voter registries in at least 20 states, and were successful in at least 4 states. The FBI said as of September that they don't think the Russian hackers actually deleted anyone from the voter rolls..... but they haven't said anything about it since.

In a less literal use of the word hacking to mean tricks, they also used social media & fake news sites to spread a campaign of misinformation. And the NSA and CIA are also currently investigating four Trump advisors who have shady-looking ties to Putin intermediaries. US intelligence agencies have also said that the Russian government may have blackmail material on Trump. This may be the same rumored, uh, bathroom-related video that the MI-6 dossier mentions, or something else.

However, intelligence agencies don't like to disclose their sources, for obvious reasons, so we have to take them at their word (or not).

The emails show that the DNC were mean to Bernie Sanders and played favorites in the primary. Basically, politics.

Also, there were some emails with Podesta and other staff talking about how much they love to go to some pizza place. Apparently on 4chan, pizza is a code word for kiddie porn or something like that, so some conservatives on that part of the internet jumped to the conclusion that the terrible awful Democrats must be talking about running a child sex ring and not just getting dinner after work.

But isn't the idea that whatever was contained in the emails, persuaded the electors to vote for Trump? According to congressman John Lewis, "I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected, and they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton." So that must mean the contents of the emails must have been bad enough to cause that.

The main problem, really, was that Clinton was using her personal email account to relay things which could potentially affect US national security.

Geez, I'd get fired for sending work over personal email and none of my work pertains to national security. I'd expect a veteran politician to know the rules.
