Personaly I feel more comftable when my head is at a 45 degree angle to my body which means at least 2 large pillows , sometimes I'll fold a pillow in half so it's more like 3 pillows.

My mind tells me I need more but my neck in the morning tells me - too many pillows :D

I'm the same. Two, with one sometimes folded.

For a long time I didn't use pillows. I found that the most comfortable solution (though not entirely practical, and certainly not attractive) was to use one of the big back cushions from our sofa. When my husband grumbled about that and the space it took up, as well as the fact that our poor sofa was now missing one of its main cushions, I rolled up a sleeping bag and covered that with a pillow case. That was a nice, firm high pillow for me.

I've since found some supportive and well-padded hotel style pillows, so I'm using two of those.

I have five on my bed, but I only really use two.

I like two pillows when I sleep. I usually sleep on my side, and I like not having my head in alignment to the rest of me. I need two pillows to make that happen.

More than 3, all under my head.
I hate sleeping. Especially if it consumed too much of my time. And trying to fall asleep more of a chore to me.

I cannot sleep side ways. Depending which side I faced, my nose starts to clog on one side -- left at left, right at right.
I'll have difficulty of falling asleep if my head is too low. It also clogs itself while I lay down. And I have to struggle HOURS to get my breathing right. Or, end up falling asleep without realizing anyway.
I wouldn't want to breathe through my mouth. Otherwise, I'll have a coughing fit or something cold on my throat that might last for days. And I have to mind the nigh odds of having a sneezing fit whenever I wake up that could last a whole day. :x

One pillow. I can't stand having my neck bent up in any way when trying to sleep.

Depends on the thickness of the pillows, obviously!

For average pillows, 2 seems to be the magic number. My neck needs to be at a certain angle, otherwise I can't get comfortable.... I also flip my pillows over a gazillion times a night.

Two, sometimes I need to sandwich my head between them to try and block out annoying noises that my music fails to block out.

2 normal sized pillows and a little square one that I put directly under my cheek when I sleep on my side. I can't fall asleep without that little pillow and I've been dragging them along with me on holidays since I remember :)

How many pillows? It depends. Sometimes I want none at all. I don't find them to be particularly comfortable under my head. Lately though I have been wanting to 'cocoon' myself when I sleep so I have been using four, though none are for under my head... they are being used to smush/surround me.

Two for under my head, two under my knee to prevent hip joint aches (has to be the exact right angles) and two under arm (that is extended and needs to be proper to prevent arm discomfort. I only sleep on my right side. Don't know why but can't sleep any other way. So, that is a total of 5-6 pillows depending on their thickness.
