Hi There!
I am Goldie-06.I don't know what to do to fix this situation.I was just on cgi,irc at WP.And was trying to talk someone out of commiting suicide.When I was disconnected.When I tried to get back on I got a message saying that I was banned and told not to harass people in the channel.I do not think that I have said anything offensive or wrong.I was only trying to help someone.I do not know what I have done wrong.How can I fix this? Can someone please give me an explaination or instructions to get out of this situation?

maybe you can talk to a moderator of wp,

also i heard that a spammer had spammed the channel, and a mod may have locked irc from being used,

if you computer allows, try accessing wp with java irc (the button on left on chat screen after you click chat fron left menu on wp)


what also could have happened is when he or she was banning the spammer, maybe their machine and accidentally banning you when it was too late,

I tried to download the java link but my itchy trigger finger accidently clicked the mouse and now it will not download.Darn it!

Either that, or an overzealous mod thought your attempts were harmful to what happened....


BTW, where in Queensland do you live? I live on the Gold Coast...

Hello. I've been in the chatroom once or twice, but I've never posted anything except small conversation. In fact, I haven't been to the chatroom in close to a month. I went to sign on today and got this message:

-zelazny.freenode.net- *** Banned: Please do not harass channels or users on freenode. (2007/05/18 19.53)


Is there anyway of fixing this?? I never did anything wrong and feel that this ban is unjustified

goldie-06, i just tried the chat through cgi irc(just to test it) and it seems its all blocked not just you, maybe since harraser that was in room the same time that you were talking a person out of committing suicide had been using the web application version (cgi irc) and alex maybe figures block cgi irc use will help prevent these harrassers.

Thanks doordoctor,that makes me feel a little better.I discovered that the password for ISP had somehow been chnage,I have no idea how that happened?!I am very concerned about the before mentioned person.I am off to see about downloading another chat client and try getting into the channel that way.(fingers crossed!Your input is greatly appreciated.

The whole cgi chat is banned because someone was causing problems in an unrelated channel.
If the cgi chat is restricted to the #wrongplanet room only again I might be able to convince them to remove the ban.
So unless Alex or any other site admin restricts the cgi chat again, nobody will be able to use it.
