Are any of you guys phobic of vomiting?

I ate some raw chicken the other night (Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich) and I was obsessing so hard about pathogens that I couldn't sleep. My fiancee offered me a few beers and it literally wouldn't kill the obsession. I was determined to panic for 72 hours, as instructed by the CDC.

She called the ER for me and they said, "Meh, don't worry about it". Classic advice, if I could only shut my brain up.

Anyway, is this what we call 'normal' in aspieland? I'm seriously done with my brain, it f*****g sucks.

Emetephobia is common in NTs as well as aspies. I used to be pretty bad with it - just a mild case of nausea could make me cry. I'm a lot better now and I also have a NT friend who is very bad. A couple actually. They went as far as to cut foods out of their diet, not eat unless they'd cooked it, panic if they thought any germs had gotten on the food etc. So whilst it's unpleasant I don't think it's a spectrum problem.

I have the worst case of emetophobia in the world.

I haven't physically vomited since I was 10.

I am afraid of getting pregnant because I lot of women say they get sick during pregnancy and birth.

I don't drink because I'm scared of hangovers.

I would rather die than vomit.

This is one of those whoa moments. About 30 minutes ago I recalling someone on another forum who once talked about having emetephobia.

I thought about it because of some canned chicken I ate, and then found a dent in the can.

Anyways it's typical for and autistic to obsess and panic.

I don't like it but once I am feeling very nauseous then I'd rather vomit and get it over with.

Being around other people who are throwing up or the smell or sight of vomit makes me gag but I'm not scared of it.

I feel a bit queasy writing this though

I hope you reported this to the relevant authorities, serving raw chicken is a very serious health and safety violation.

I only don't like feeling sick because of the possibility of vomiting. If I knew it was impossible to vomit but still feel nauseas, I wouldn't be too worried. Well, I'm not saying feeling sick is great because it isn't. But vomiting is worse.

I hate it when I say online about getting anxious of motion sickness when travelling and people reply with "just vomit, it's the best cure". I don't WANT to vomit! I don't want to start wretching on a bus. Whenever I gag to vomit, I cannot do it discreetly. I hawk, cough, choke, belch, involuntary lean forward, it's horrible. I can't get my breath because my chest muscles contract without me wanting them to, and sometimes it does it 4 or 5 times, and I start lacking oxygen. I know I haven't vomited in years and years, but I have still wretched in that time occasionally, and it was unpleasant. But at least when no vomit comes up I don't get that horrible taste in my mouth. Yuk!

Although they say vomiting is your body's way of getting rid of unwanted toxins, it still doesn't FEEL natural.

Yes! Good call, that was the first thing my fiancee did the following day. We couldn't believe they were serving them like that.

I honestly hope nobody else got seriously ill, considering the two sandwiches I got were identically raw. Apparently this is common for Wendy's all around the US, so I refuse to ever eat there again.

I don't fear catching a vomitting bug but vomitting is my worst feared sensation there is in life. I would rather go through a surgery than vomit. I haven't allowed myself to vomit in like 7 years and go to great lengths to avoid vomitting even though I am chronically nauseous.

I have a large stash of Zofran that I amassed years ago to prevent me from vomitting and nausea and fear of vomitting is one of the main reasons I pursued getting a medical marijuana license.

I hate vomiting more than anything. Worst sensation on the planet. It sucks because I vomit quite often. I find that a good way to prevent vomiting is it lay down when you feel like you are going to throw up.

I think it scares me when people who had a stomach flu says they were puking all night or all day, loads of times (not just once or twice, but 20 or more). I'm just like, how on earth did they physically manage to puke like that so many times? Didn't they run out of puke after a couple of times? Were they just puking up bile? How quickly does the stomach make so much bile to keep vomiting?

I try to look up information on what actually happens in the body during a vomiting virus and how it all happens, because educating myself sometimes helps, but I can't find anything, not anatomy-wise.

The last time I got a virus, it lasted a few hours but I counted over 50 times. Maybe that has something to do with my fear.

Like most phobics, I never vomit unless my body absolutely makes me do it. When it's caused by alcohol, it's not quite as bad as a virus / poisoning IMO.

People who can hold back everything are the anomaly to me.

At that point they are basically vomiting up pure stomach acid, which is produced rapidly. I believe stomach acid is produced quicker than even saliva is.
