Ok, I know that we have AS and we can't be expected to conform to every socially normative behavior.

We will have trouble with eye contact.

We will speak in a monotone.

Our socks may never match

We even wear white after labor day.

There is a wide range of behaviors that are odd but do no harm to anyone.

Not showering is not one of these harmless behaviors. Just as NTs have no right to demand you conform to their expectations, you have no right to force them to inhale your BO and coffee breath all day long.

Brush and shower daily. Failing to do so is not a harmless eccentricity. It is rude.

I quite agree. People that do not wash regularly are quite disgusting to be around.

You're not under water restrictions, are you?

Is it alright if I don't shave as often as I should?

You're meant to brush your teeth at least twice a day.

You are not the boss of me.
I will shower as soon as I can smell myself and not one day sooner.
So there.Besides, the dogs I work with LOVE the way I smell, and I care more about their opinion then mere humans.

Okay...I'm going to take the side of those that don't bathe every day, but hear me out. First, I actually do bathe five to six times a week on average and use antiperspirant daily, while freshening up as well on a daily basis. Second, in addition to my mental eccentricities, I have quite a few anatomical ones as well. One of these is a lack of ability to perspire very well. I do perspire, just not normally. It has plagued me my whole life. I was an athlete, and as I child coaches and parents would freak out because my face would turn red and white when I exerted myself. Puberty didn’t change anything. Anyway, I don’t bathe every day, because some days I just don’t get stinky. I’m sure you’ll argue “Who was the judge of that…yourself?” To which I reply, “Mostly, but not entirely!” My partners have always said I have a naturally pleasing aroma. Go figure! There is also the aspect of conserving water, which I commend anyone for trying to do. However, I do agree that you need to be aware of your “aroma” and make sure you validate on occasion with someone else if you want to skip that bath. Hair is a different story. After thirty-six hours my hair will get nappy. Can I say that here? So I only go more than forty-eight hours when I am somewhere that I don’t have access to bathing facilities.

I don't shower everyday, but I shower enough not to smell. I brush my teeth once or twice a day.

I brush my hair a lot, too...

I'm very concerned with hygiene. I absolutely have to feel clean and fresh all over or else I'll go crazy. There have been times when I forgot to bring gum to school and after lunch I felt like I would gladly kill someone for a toothbrush. I also usually carry some floss with me everywhere I go. I shower at least once a day and when my hair gets long I tend to wash it every 6 to 8 hours.

So you can tell whoever decided that aspies are all filthy people to quit spreading that nonsensical rumor.
