Anyone else really like/have a passion for reptiles or own one? I love them and could go on and on for hours disscussing the topic which I know can annoy people sometimes since most people don't like them as much. :/ I have four leopard geckos of my own and love them to death! I hope to go into herpetology in college or something to do with zoology or animals.

I like reptiles a lot, but they don't hold that much more interest for me than other animals. Geckos are cool. I like frogs too. I'm always on the lookout for garter snakes when trail walking. One let my dad pick it up once and acted really tame. But it put out a bad smell, so we just watch them slither now.

Reptiles are cool and all, but I've never had one for a pet. If it was a snake or lizard that eats rodents I'd be too squeamish to feed them, even if the rodents are already dead.

Speaking of which, there's a Pet Smart store that opened up nearby only a couple of weeks ago. It's the biggest pet store I've ever seen! They even have a grooming salon and a place for training dogs. Anyway, they also have refrigerated boxes of "Arctic Mice" They are really frozen dead mice or small rats for feeding reptiles. I thought it was pretty gross. I know they gotta eat too, but I really don't enjoy the thought of holding a dead defrosted rodent by the tail and wiggling it so it looks alive. :eew:

I don't mind the live crickets and worms, though. Weird. Also I like frogs and amphibians better. I once kept a frog I'd caught at a pond in the summer as a pet for a while, and I caught him live flies and other bugs to eat. It was so cool seeing him flick out his tongue and catch them in a split second! I eventually released him back at the pond because I was worried he wasn't getting enough food, and it would get harder to feed him when the weather got colder.

I am another reptile enthusiast. I have 4 pet snakes (2 Ball Pythons and 2 Corn Snakes, one of which is an Amel Motely morph) and had originally hoped to focus on herpetology in my studies for Conservation Biology. I chose to broaden my scope for experience but I still love them and even took a herpetology course. When I was younger I participated in the Reptile Atlas Project in NY, catching reptiles and taking measurements and I always enjoyed catching and identifying both reptiles and amphibians.
