Did not watch. Spell checkers render spelling bees pointless. Though factoring out the often comorbid dyslexia memorization is something aspie are good at.

We don't have that kind of spelling bee contests here in Mexico, but I know how it works.

TM1 is right. Maybe I would have been an excelent spelling bee girl :)

I won a couple of spelling bees as a kid. There was no city-wide competition where I lived back then. I would have competed in them, if there had been.

For some reason, I saw quite a bit of this one. There were two or three that DEFINATELY seemed ASPIE! One even looked PHYSICALLY like it with the sunken eyes. But the things that struck out at me were:

1. Always seemed like this.
2. Did it simply because they could, and it seemed easy, weren't interested in fame, etc...
3. Had a GREAT memory!
4. LOVED math, and were good at it.
5. LOVED music and were good at it.

I'm jealous.

Still, it is interesting. The winner(One of those I spoke of) credited fish, and a lot here take omega 3/6, etc... I used to love and eat a lot of fish, but laugh at the idea of it being brain food. Maybe I should reconsider!? Of course, I'm sure a number took fish, so it was definately more than that!

Spelling is one of my strengths. I have participated in an adult spelling bee. Our team finished fifth last year. I was excited about my performance.
