In the last few months I've gone through some stressful episodes (breakup, depression, no life goals, moved to campus, currently stressing about exams etc.) and can see some mental difficulties taking on. I'm too lazy and shy to go see a doctor but I've started rocking, shaking and flapping my arms. I suspect it could be tourettes, lot of things just triggers me into ticking, jerking my head,... But the arm-flapping is the worst. Mainly because it looks really stupid and makes me look like crazy hysterical primabalerinna drama queen. I've tried sticking to a schedule, reduce smoking, drinking and reading/watching news but I still have certains periods of time when it is a lot worse. Could someone here advice me what to do with it it? Thanks!

Can you substitute a more "socially acceptable" NT-like stim?
(Okay, so some hardcore people here may get mad at me for that question,
but if someone wants to quit a habit, the best way is to replace it with a new habit instead.)

Also, if you can find ways to reduce the stress,
that can help reduce the stimming too.
