I don't think we should be warning stupid people against doing stupid things; rather, we should be encouraging it. Some gene pools just need to dry up for the betterment of humanity.

I guess that laundry detergent just looks more appetizing when it's packaged in a "pod".

 Ok....... when I was very little there was a rash of poisonings reported on the radio / TV. Little kids were getting under the kitchen sink and drinking cleaning products. Pine oils, even drain cleaners.

Even at that young age - I was between 4 and 6 - this completely bewildered me. I could not imagine doing it. At some point (I had to be older by this time) I remember talking to my parents about this same thing - and the kids getting into refrigerators and being trapped inside and suffocating thing, which was also happening then - and my father thought it was some kind of defiance, the kid did it specifically because they'd been told not to. That was the only reason he could come up with for anyone doing such a thing.

I mean, these things don't even look like food. They look like plastic. Who eats plastic? Don't they break in people's mouths? Wouldn't anyone spit out something that foul tasting?

(edit in: me being persnickety with food isn't an explanation. I liked blue cheese by the time I was 9. I love Retsina. But those are edible and they taste edible. So )

 beats me

Wow, your timely warning may have just saved my life. Another personal favorite: "Contents [of coffee cup] may be hot." Yeah, no kidding, I'll be complaining to you if they're not. I recently saw another label on a mug warning that the mug would become hot if you put it in the microwave. Isn't that why I put it in the microwave? I just love our litigious society.

Timely indeed! Those mouth watering laundry pods look so much like the Cadbury Egg that I was just about pop one in my mouth!

I guess some folks think that if you microwave a mug of old coffee that ONLY the contents will get hot, and it doesn't occur to them that the containing mug would also get hot! And some folks get a rude surprise, and spill it on themselves, and get burns. And then sue for medical expenses! Lol!

Kids in my neighbor would have to be rushed to the emergency room for drinking household chemicals- kids who survived and became successful adults. Go figure.

But this phenom isn't even always kids. Its become an internet meme for grown ups to do on camera. 8O

well derrr....don't eat any kind of laundry pod, would you drink a jug of laundry soap?

And this is caused by internet memes challenging people to eat the pods?..I suppose if there's an internet challenge to jump off a cliff and report the resulting consequences people would do that to. This is beyond stupid...I just hope they don't ban the pods because of these idiots I like to use them for laundry like they were made for. Not specifically the tide ones, but whichever brand happens to be on sell.

Nothing wrong with warning people, but if someone doesn't want to listen to said warning that is kind of on them.

What happened to the video I posted?

It was in that big blank space in my above post.

It was from U Tube of a guy giving us a Julia Child type lesson in properly cooking Tide pods on a skillet, complete with garnishes and spices.

Went back to U Tube just now and cant find it again.

I bet that U Tube must have just pulled that video in the last few hours!

Have heard similar notions.

I mentioned to a coworker who always wore a helmet when commuting to work on his motorcycle that "I guess that you're not one of those anti-helmet law kinda bikers". Was surprised when he replied "Oh I am totally against helmet laws too.". He went on to explain "get rid of helmet laws and all of the folks who are dumb enough to not wear helmets when riding motorcycles will get killed off, and it will eliminate the gene for stupidity in the human race!"

I guess that that's one way of looking at it.
