A side interest is not what i consider a full on special interest. Whats makes a side interest different from a special interest?

1. It doesnt replace a special interest ( the two often live side by side )

2. The side interest may not be as in depth as a special interest

3. The side interest may have a shorter lifespan.

So now you know what i personally describe as a side intetest

My special interest is Sonic but as of for the past year i have been REALLY into metal detecting and was watching some
Youtube videos on it and today for my birthday i bought a metal detector of my very own :D. Its too early in winter to use but IM SO EXCITED.

Anyone got any cool side interests?

Not necessarily. My main interest is saving the planet. My side interest is saving people from ignoring reality and getting blindsided by disasters.

I don't know that I have really a "main" special interest most of the time. My obsessions seem to swap places for that position now and then. I suppose that at this very moment, my special interest is Confederate history, and my side interests are a local historical figure, a local legend, and radio, although I've been neglecting those last two for quite some time in favor of the former. The weirdest side interest I've ever had was an obsession with salt. It was pretty short-lived since I was nine at the time and didn't have access to information about it apart from my encyclopedias, but it was probably my first side interest. I only began to have side interests regularly when I was about sixteen.

My main interest is definitely kpop (for the last 3 years). My side interests right now are urban exploring, car crash and natural disasters.

I'd consider Roblox and Scenecore to be my current side interests. Also, I've been thinking about Undertale and Steven Universe a lot recently!

When it comes to a spacific lifelong special interest I don't think I have one.

I have a lot of rotating interests and one of them will become a main interest for a time, until another takes its place.

But there's always something I'm deeply immersed in.

Side interests are history, mythology, archeology, architecture, cartography, numismatics, fantasy, weaponry, the occult and paranormal, theology, religions, cultures, movies, tv shows, books, zoology and other stuff.

Does anybody else here have any interest in practical matters? How not to get lynched, how to make things, legislation affecting our lives, healthy living, etc?

It could, but not in isolation from similar or related work.

Some of my interests are different cultures, religions, history, science, philosophy, all sorts of fiction especially fantasy, video games, paranormal junk, astronomy, medieval times, ancient Rome, Japan, architecture, nature, etc.

I cycle between them and constantly find new ones.
