Hello everyone!

I have a challenge for you! Post a short section of your writing: a sentence, bit of poem, anything you loved writing, but for whatever reason decided not to include in a final draft. The more obscure/odd the better!

I’ll start with a line I edited out with regret:

El found herself in what she hoped would remain the strangest moment of her life, trying to soothe her distraught family while still stuck in a Mexican standoff with her informant-slash-lover. “Will you put the gun down already and stop freaking out my mom!”

That's pretty impressive... you might win the Bulwer-Lytton contest with it!

Yep, that line is a grandious stinker, that’s why it was quickly edited out. But it was so amusing to write! My idea behind this prompt was for people to have some fun submitting silly/oddball lines they’ve created. Let’s see if anyone can come up with something worse than mine!

I might have asked the assailant: What is a "Mexican Standoff?"

“Mexican Standoff” is a highly overused trope in which everyone in the situation has weapons aimed at them so no one can take action. My understanding is that the term originally came from old western books and movies.
