I've been writing a lot of folk music over the past couple years. I've always taken a lot of inspiration from Paul Simon and Ian Anderson. I listen to a lot of Grateful Dead at work (I think it counts), and I've recently been getting into Fairport Convention (electric folk, their early stuff is more similar to Jethro Tull than to American folk rock), and some of the Steeleye Span albums that I had missed out on before.

Well as for folk I tend to like folk metal.

But one of my favorite artists, Korpiklanni...well their vocalist has a solo project that is a lot more folk than folk metal and/or rock. Anyways the vocalist project is named after himself its called Jonne

But yeah this is some folk that I love.

Also I have found some of this kind of music uses an instrument called the hurdy gurdy, I find it to be a really fascinating instrument its kind of like a violin accordian, no idea how to play one yet I'd still like one to at least display on a shelf but I would probably want to learn to play it to.

Just got hold of "L.A. Turnaround" by Bert Jansch and "Diamonds and Rust" by Joan Baez. Enjoying both! I used to sing at a folk club, but never really listened to folk at home- it was always a "live" thing for me. Thought I'd rectify that.

Lancashire folksong relating to the small village of Cockerham. Twenty-five minutes drive from where I'm from.
