If anyone is capable of producing art (by which I mean your typical Deviant artist professional) which I find pleasing to look at, I tend to become obsessed with that person to the point that they notice me and accuse me of stalking. I am not a sexual person: I'm cerebrally attracted to people, if that makes any sense. I don't want a lover, I want to pledge utter devotion to someone who doesn't need to know that I exist and bask in their glory, get lost in their artwork.

Can anyone relate to, or shed light on this? I'm pleased with the notion that I'm not shallow and that I'm not only attracted to pretty faces. I love talent and passion and artistic skill, whoever it comes from. Examples below:

(I intend no harm, but my zealous admiration can be troublesome.)

Could this be a "visual thinking" thing?

How do you feel about writers, with not much talent in the visual arts?

Writers are amazing, and I admire them deeply, but I'm a visual person. I love the visual arts. Then again, my best long-distance friend was a professional writer and he had an incredibly eloquent and artistic way of expressing himself using words and images (drawn or photographed by someone other than himself, but cleverly worked into his own narrative.)

I guess you could call him a poet, and I appreciated him, but I'm still more interested in visual artists.

Do you have a particular favorite artistic style?

I like some of the Impressionists. But I really like the Dutch artists like Rubens. I like Renaissance art, the best, I suppose--all in all.

How old are you? Is this your special interest?

I was often infatuated by people with talents when I was a teen. Music, poetry, athletics, even public speaking, not art because I was pretty good myself. I found talents irresistible. I wanted to be with people who can accomplish such good things. But I never tried too hard to approach them. If I did they'd probably think I'm weird, too. I had my circle of friends, ordinary friends without super talents. I didn't fancy them, but they were lovely enough to keep me satisfied. It's a phase for me. After 20 I didn't get impressed by people too much any more. My husband has multiple talents and I was not impressed on our first date when he was showing off. :D

Just saying your situation might change with time as well.

How would you have felt if your husband didn't have "multiple talents?"

What did impress you about him?

I do understand how you feel. You don't like people who "show off."

I like the type of art that Peter Max did in the 60s and the 70s. In fact, I am the 60s and the 70s.

I adore M.C. Escher's work (I think everyone does) and I love surrealism. To be honest, I'm not very "arty", I just like what I like. I love trawling through Deviantart and randomly appreciating whatever I happen to find. Examples below.

I'm an animal lover, and I love realistic artwork featuring animals (and occassionally cartoon-animal artwork.)
