for me, the top two were "the last boy scout" and "pulp fiction" - they both deposited in my psyche a layer of grime that made me feel so befouled that a total immersion bath in chlorophyll wouldn't clean me back up. there needs to be a mental cleaner for such movies. anybody here ever see a movie or read a book that made you feel like you'd been psychically soiled? this doesn't refer to mere disillusionment, but feeling like you'd been splashed by sewage from an exploding septic tank, that was the criticism levied against one of John Waters' early films.

I think I'm immune. Call me a masochist, but I seem to thrive watching disturbing movies/reading disturbing books.

The Skin I Live In by Pedro Almodovar

I still consider this a well done film, but Dr. Ledgard played by Antonio Banderas was so sick and despicable and the extent to which he uses another human being like a toy with his medical skills was just extemely unethical and I was in a weird dark mood after watching it.

Even with that reaction, I still commend the director for creating a very unique film with what is honestly a mindf**k of a plot.

An honorable mention or runner up is the ending of The Godfather Part 2 regarding the fate of Fredo.

as much as you can stand relating it, what should I be aware of in that movie?

Every other word is "fxxx", there's a giant food orgy, food objects getting raped, a guy taking bath salts and then getting decapitated...I wouldn't call it one of the most graphic films of all time or anything, but it's one of the most graphic Western animated films for sure, and it was out to offend everybody.

Mixed feelings on this one with some very over the top violence, but I'll give them credit for succeeding at the 'Grindhouse' genre they were aiming for and I did like Rutger Hauer's Hobo character taking out The Drake, Ivan, and Slick.

The Human Centipede is high on my list and I only watched the first 24 minutes... I still have nightmares. The racism was gross in itself, and the subject of the movie makes my brain flatline. I can't even think about it, my brain won't let me.

Patchwork was bizarre and disgusting but the humour almost redeems it for me. "RELEASE THE OWL-CAT!!" I died laughing.

I enjoy the crass "bro" humor in Judd Apatow or Matthew Vaughn films even if sometimes it can go a bit beyond the pale. My mind is thinking "that joke was so puerile and is both offensive and insulting to its audience" but then I laugh anyway.

thank you for the description. at least it was an animation and not live-action or realistic action. btw, did you know that in the original "Dawn of the Dead" the cast members were mouthing on REAL guts? that were putrid [due to refrigerator malfunction]? :eew: couldn't pay me enough to do that.
