If you had $100,000 that you could spend on either a sports car, pickup truck, or classic car, which of the two vehicles would you get? Assume that you could comfortably afford the running expenses of either vehicle, and that you're licensed to drive either one.
Personally I would get a pickup truck. Not a brand new one either, but one with a bit of "character", you know, a few dents and scratches, slightly faded paintjob, standard cab, long box... that's what I'm talking about. Why a pickup? It's a very versatile vehicle; it can haul a trailer, move firewood, plow snow, bring home a washing machine, basically, move any large and heavy item.
If I couldn't get a pickup I'd probably get a classic car and restore it. Firstly I think they look cool, and secondly the satisfaction from a well done restoration would be second to none.
Personally I'm not a fan of sports cars because they're not very useful IMO. Sure they might look cool and have great handling, as well as drive fast, but those characteristics aren't very useful as far as I can tell, because you can't go over 110 km/h anywhere in Canada anyways, appearance isn't that important to me (all sports cars look kinda lame compared to the classics TBH), and I've a hunch that a fancy sports car is far more likely to be stolen than an old pickup truck.
