Hi:
Something crossed my mind today which is about people who like to get away with being a jerk, rude, mean nasty to you etc by making exuses for their behavior.

EG-
1. They look for sympathy by telling you a sob story whenever you call them out for something
2. They convince you of things - Well I had a cold, I had my period
3. They give you reasons - "I didn't mean to be a jerk but I am trying this new lifestyle."

Does anyone deal with people like these?

People like that suck. The worst ones are the ones who try to make it look we are the rude ones when they are the rude ones.

I have encountered parents that make excuses for their children's poor behavior. They will say their kid forgot to take his medication or they had a rough morning or night. Other times they will start talking about the behavior of other kids in the program and use that to excuse their kids' behavior. The parent will even accuse of us only getting after their kids even though their kids were not the only kids that have gotten written up this year. These kids come up with excuses for their behavior because they are their parents doing it.

I can't stand it when someone mistreats you because they are envious of you and then when you confront them, they blame what happened to them in the past by others who mistreated them or because they feel bad about themselves.

"All my life my family never accepted me because I wasn't a boy."

Another one: When people use their autism as an excuse to get away with being mean or rude. "I yelled at you because I can't understand sarcasm. It's my autism"

Or - "I can't talk to you on the phone because your voice is too grating on my ears. It's not your fault but mine because my level of autism has bad sensory issues."

Another one: "

Someone screamed at me when I killed him in the game CSGO. He said it was because he has aspergeres. I told him I actually have aspergers and I would've said sorry, because you should never use aspergers as an excuse.

I know this feeling first hand. I had someone who I thought was a colleague be a jerk to me, most likely due to the fact she had some difficulties with filtering. What she told me was mocking and hurtful. The nail in the coffin was that we had a lot in common, yet she took our comradery and threw it away.

Many voices over the phone do grate my ears. As for the excuses. Don't accept them.
