I'm normally into sci fi movies (Bladerunner 2 was awesome), but my teenage daughter wanted to see it and I went along with her. Actually really enjoyed it
I liked the true-to-life way that Simon was having such intense personal issues while being surrounded by nice, ordinary people. By not over-dramatising, it was more relatable.
And I think that, even though I'm completely heterosexual, I could recognise and empathise with his feelings of being different and worries about rejection from friends and family. I think that's something we with AS go through as well, to some extent.
Surprisingly, this might rate as the second best movie I've seen all year (but only because the superhero genre has completely lost its way )
