i dont know how to describe this but i feel like i have a special connection to music and among other things i can often "feel" the emotion of a song to the point where if i feel like the emotion isnt genuine i have an intense dislike for it (as happens with a lot fo popular music)

i also tend to notice a lot of patterns in music and overall i just feel like i have a natural inclination towards it (even though i cant read notes, but i can learn songs on piano through tab / memorization pretty fast)

i also seem to appreciate music in general more than other people i know (who are NT or allistic) like i focus a lot on lyrics and if a song has bad lyrics i will feel weird and hate it

some of the reasons i especially appreciate "unusual" genres such as folk punk is 1. the raw emotion that i sense in it and 2. the lyrics are often Fantastic

there is other stuff im sure but im bad at thinking of thngs on the spot and i dont really know what else to put
i
my point is, does anyone else feel like they have this special or unusual connection to music?

I do to an extent. I have a pretty good ear for tones and can easily learn to sing/play songs just by listening to the melody and "finding" the notes in it.

As for the emotion/lyric thing, though, I don't grow to dislike songs over lack of emotion in them or bad lyrics - as an all-around music listener and appreciator, that's not in my nature.

I do. I get really absorbed by music to the point where it’s almost hypnotic. If something is on I really enjoy I’m highly annoyed if someone talks or interrupts. Good music can almost separate myself from my body. Sounds weird, but it can take me away. I was a drummer in high school and college in a couple punk bands. The lyrics seem the mostly always fit.

Definitely. I like physical affection with people I trust, but I think I get from music what a lot of people get from physical affection. Even though I'm no a dancer, don't mosh, etc. music always feels very physical. It has a relation to poetry, and both are the voice of the soul.

I have a deep connection with music and I release my emotions when I play guitar. If I didn't have music and a guitar I would live out the rest of my days in a padded cell :D

A lot of people seem to underestimate the importance of music. Quite sad, really.

Perhaps, I mean in dark times it has helped to keep me going....like not sure sometimes what I might have done if it was not for music. I can't even play music and it is important to me. I largely listen to metal but I love music so much I cannot stick to just one kind, so while I kind of identify as being a metalhead i listen to a lot of stuff outside metal and in that case it would be hard to define what all I like.

I live in a paracosm of music.

I've always loved the heck out of music too. I'm always discovering new genres I like on Spotify and listen nonstop some days; I feel like I can either be tired without it and feel no purpose, but if I'm too sensitive and sad I need to hear just the right thing. I don't even need to have broken up with someone and I'll have to get away from relationship songs.

And as with a lot of you guys, I may even be able to have enough connection that being without music a whole day drives me crazy, also I've tried to compose some good stuff on Soundcloud, unfortunately I took off a really good song I put together and I made it on an old version of Ableton Live Intro (I don't make a whole lot of music, humph). Yep, humph.
But anyways.

Anyone who read this post, please check out IDM and LoFi instrumental music, both genres are highly underrated that can actually keep you chill and relieve stress depending on the steady, calm groove.

Unfortunately at the Emu Egg stage I can't share any videos...dangit.

Peace all!
