Maybe a closet is used because it would literally be big enough for a person to hide in.

And just like "hiding in a closet", closeted gay people are basically hiding from society by pretending to not be gay.

I grew up in a trailer so my closet was too small to hide in. :lol:

But seriously, everybody around me seemed to know that I was gay before I even knew it. I guess that's one of the reasons why I always bullied in school.
