Hi guys... I really have no idea what to do with 7 days of the week...

I can not work because my Aspergers... I have contacted all the shops and places of work in the areas i can get to locally... no one is looking for volunteers... I have contacted my Council for their help and list of services and their reply was

*Sorry we can't do anything to help you, you have only lived in our Council for 2 months, you need to live here for five years before we can give any funding...*

I spoke to NASUK and they say basically the same thing **Because you don't live under our locality anymore you need to speak with the COuncil you have moved into or your doctor...**

The Doctor says...

** Sorry all i can do is write a letter to your local council telling them the situation of your ASD, Depression and Suicidleness and ask them to help you...**

He did and the council replied with exactly the same bloody thing!! ! What the heck can i do??? I can't speak to anyone as i already have! I am on my own living in independant flat (i don't need supported accomodation)

Sitting on my ass playing PC games all day (at least 18 hours) there is only so many times a week you can go out to the woods... or get stoned... or sleep all day I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!! !

Can anyone point me to speak to someeone in West Sussex UK please???

Social services won't help either.... bescause guess what? **you have to be in the council for 5 years first...**! !! !! !! !! !!

Trying to be kind to them: it is nearly next year.

Is there an Autism Group for your area? If not set one up?

By NASUK you mean the Nat Autistic Soc? I haven't had any dealings with them, but I know that MIND isn't actually a homogeneous national entity: the Head Office is a PR thing, and the local MIND's pay the HO for the use of the name, NAS maybe the same?

Actually your local MIND may be able to help? They may even take Volunteers, especially if you can do things like help people with PIP and ESA Forms.....

I would suggest not committing to more than 1 day a week to begin with.

Are you able to walk around outside and get a lot of exercise? Go to the library or free museums? Apart from being confined involuntarily to a cell, your description of your days sounds similar to that of an incarcerated felon in the U.S.

Can you make some sort of schedule for yourself to routinely get out of the house?

I’ve been sitting at cofeshops, on Reddit/YouTube and walking up and down the street to my take my mind off for the past ten years. You are so far ahead of me to see it’s waste of time.

You may need to get a college degree, a vocational school or do an apprenticeship.

Keep looking for work.. don’t give up before you find something.

“The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”

You don't need an official volunteer position to help people. Go out and offer people help. Put up signs with your phone number or email address and offer services. Walk dogs or babysit kids or clean gutters or pick up groceries for elderly people. Make Youtube videos or write a blog teaching people stuff you know. Offer to grade papers at the nearest primary school for a teacher.

Do you have no hobbies? Find at least one besides playing video games. And how is it that you can't work, but you can volunteer? Are all the volunteer positions easier than work? What type of volunteering can you do that isn't like a job?

I cannot work right now, either.

I try and learn. It doesn't necessarily matter what, though I try and learn more about the field I'm in (computers) whether it's programming, graphics, staying current or what have you.

It's at odds with my difficulty in learn and retaining anything I do learn, but if some of it seeps in then I guess it's worth my time which I'd likely be doing nothing with anyway.

I'm not well-versed with support systems, but I'd agree picking up some of your own "useful" activities would help. Spending a lot of time just waiting on stuff to happen sucks.

So in the UK people who move frequently can't get any help? And I thought Australia was bad! At least here everything is done at a national level so you're fine so long as you don't leave the country for an extended period of time.

If you want something to do with your time you could try watching Youtube.

There are a couple of centres in the North of England, Preston and Manchester, but first it costs money to get to them, then the centres charge money to attend. I wouldn't be able to smoke, everyone would probably be a lot younger than me and I swear like a f*****g trooper. So f**k that.

The NAS phoneline has actually been very helpful for me over a couple of different things, that is worth trying.

For a small purchase of $10 I can do a self paced course on udemy.com for drawing that will last me weeks and will hopefully land me a job when I build a portfolio of my work. Maybe you could find something udemy or even youtube

You might try practising a physical skill. If it involves exercise, that's good for your whole system. I also get away from my screen to use my hands. I make most of my food from scratch, and enjoy art metalwork and other sculpting. If I were young, I might take up music or juggling. To start on juggling, people use cloth instead of balls, to slow things down. Singing comes in handy from time to time, and costs nothing to learn.
I thoroughly recommend some time in meditation, to restore some ability to focus after exposure to screen time.
The next decade is really the last one with a chance for humans to avert a climate catastrophe. You might want to get involved in helping.
