Hi all!

I've been wanting to join you for a while now, but the fact I only had a suspicion of asperger's kept me away (perhaps unnecessarily) - but now I'm officially diagnosed! Woohoo!
I can't really put my finger on why, but I'm really happy with my diagnosis. I guess it has something to do with finally understanding a lot of things about myself, like why I'm tired so often and ... lots of other things I may share with you one day, but that don't seem fitting for an introductory post. :)

Anyways. I can't wait to get to know you!

One question before I can really feel at home, though, and sorry if it has already been asked hunderds of times:
Why is this place called wrong planet?
I mean... I may not be neurotypical, but I still like to think that I am part of society, rather than some alien.
How does that feel for you guys?

Alright, off to explore the rest of the site! See you around! :D

Welcome! I think the site is called Wrong Planet because sometimes ASD is called Wrong Planet Syndrome. Like we were born on the wrong planet or something. But this site is great. I've been here for about 3 weeks now.

Cool!

I'm still not happy about the alien part, but I guess it's nice enough to find my fellow aliens not to care too much :)

Yeah I don't think the whole alien thing is the best metaphor anyways. I prefer "wired differently" myself because it emphasizes that the only thing that's different about us how we think and how our neurons are.

I think I'll adopt that one. It's a nice metaphor. Thanks!

Totally! It's what I use to explain my ASD to neuro-typical people. I think in the general board, they have a comic guide to ASD for NT people and it's amazing. viewtopic.php?t=112787

Welcome to WP; may your stay be a long and happy one. I'm sure you'll find some forums and threads to interest you.

As something of a Star Wars fan I like the idea of aliens and love the diversity shown in the movies and books. We are a diverse spectrum just like we see there and yet can work together for the common good!
