Does anyone else know what I mean? Women at work give me this look all the time. Like there's something not quite right about her look
I'll admit it still hurts after all these years that people still think I'm weird and not in the good way
I try so freaking hard to imitate "normal" people but they can always see I'm not like them. They dont accept my pretend self nor my real self..not sure what to do

I know someone may say "it's all in your head" it's not people I tried talking to go out of their way to avoid me. I may scare them idk
Oh well 8)

I know exactly what you mean. I don’t think I’m acting abnormally or inappropriately at all, but somehow I still manage to give off some sort of “offish” vibe that weirds out some people who don’t know me well. I think it’s down to small mannerisms that I haven’t well polished enough to “pass normal” and that’s what gives people the impression that there’s something weird about me without them necessarily being able to point a finger on why the reason is exactly.

If you are trying your best and people still treat you like you are weird, maybe you should point it out to them that it’s making you uncomfortable and if you feel comfortable enough with it and trust them enough, perhaps you could tell them that you have ASD and that’s just who you are (although I don’t advise it much, people generally can’t be trusted with information like that and it might lead to them alienating you further).

Yes and it did so bother me when I was younger! One thing I know about most (though by no means all) people is that if you successfully convince them you're related to a celebrity or in line to inherit a pile of wealth, they'll kiss your ass like there is no tomorrow, no matter how weird you actually might be. Robert Durst comes to mind. It puts in perspective how people judge others.

Recently there was a social worker locally who used tape on his shoes who left 11 million dollars to various charities. His friends were shocked when they found out many of their assumptions about him were wrong. Of course, that didn't really do him any good, did it?

I've been working at Casey's for about a month now and within the first week my co workers told me that they could tell there was something different about me(I've actually been open with them about it all, so it's not like they brought it upon themselves to ask me).

If you haven't already, I would encourage you to do the same. If they can't accept you for who you are, that's their problem.

Yeah ... kind of like the look my ex-wife and her relatives would give me whenever I would say something that they didn't expect a reasonable person would say; things like "The universe is 13.8 billion years old" or "Someday, a black man will be elected president" or "Why can't we all just get along?"

Keep in mind that we live in a society where "Hurting other peoples" feelings so being passive and aggressive, prideful and blaming the victim will play a role.

However, its best not to tell someone who you don't know and don't know you that you are autistic. Rather, it's better to let them get to know you and vice versa. I learned the hard way from disclosing too fast trust me.

As for giving you weird looks, do you have a work portfolio of all your projects? Also, what about things you made in school? That can turn things around for you.

I'm sure I've been getting that look my whole life but I'm too much in my own head & world to really notice or care. What matters to me is the way they treat me. if they don't bully me or avoid assisting me with things(like employees at stores helping customers), I don't really give a sh!t what they think of me.

Some precious lil "people" gave me the "you're a wierdo " look.

"She's a wierdo"
"He's so strange"
"Freak"

But I am a wierdo.

People have a legal and moral right to their own emotional expression

Seriously please do not be preoccupied with it

Autism
Clinical depression

If I ain't no wierdo, who or what is a wierdo?

Hello, I'm new here. I know exactly what you mean. It has driven my mind crazy with fear, always scanning for signs of negative judgment. I perfected "looking" normal but when people try to talk to me I have no idea what to say. The average person's conversation is generally about things I cannot relate too or have 0 interest in. Racism in the US is out of control also, which makes it even more difficult for me. I'm white, so my experience is, white people judge me as weird or crazy, all other races judge me as being racist, simply because I'm nervous and quiet. This has trained my mind to automatically flood my body with anxiety when around people, it wipes my mind of thought and floods me with fear. It's gotten so bad that I do not even leave the house. Anxiety meds do absolutely nothing for me. It has ruined my life and forced me out of employment . Also, the loneliness has robbed me of my interests, mostly. I need a woman so badly but it seems like an impossible dream. I used to not care and just have fun doing my own thing but now my accomplishments seem so dull with no one to share them with. Sadly, I wasn't diagnosed with autism until 2 years ago, at my breaking point. I always knew I was very different but didn't know why. I tried my best to make it, hiding myself from others including my family, I had a good courier but was taking advantage of due to lack of buisnes sense. Now it feels like I have failed my life, I'm able to prevent myself from sinking into deep depression but at the same time, I'm just trying to get through each eventless day waiting for my time.

Lol. Reality is my favorite thing to ponder, existence, what is it really? Also, it seems the world has gone mad, if you watch any news, logic has been tossed aside. I love learning about the many sciences , mostly particle physics, astronomy & nature, it seems most average people around don't care anything about those subjects. (Middle Georgia, US)
