Teenagers are at a self-conscious age and are becoming more aware of how to behave a certain way, and they know what's 'weird' and what's not. But today I was in town and I heard this guy groan loudly and make other unusual noises, then his girlfriend or whoever it was gave him a friendly punch and said, "shut up, you ret*d prick!" (but jokingly). But it was obvious he wasn't neurologically disabled or anything, he just laughed. They had their hoods up and we're in a group. I don't know what the American equivalent these types of teens are, but in the UK we call them "oiks" or "louts". Not all teenagers are like this but often I do see teenagers drawing attention to themselves like making weird noises that make you look at them weird. Why do some NT teenagers want to act embarrassing, but if anyone else shows themselves up like that (even other teenagers), they would probably take the piss?

We have many names for this type of teenager----some of which are unprintable!

At least the girl and the boy were able to laugh at themselves. That's a good sign that they'll eventually "grow out of it."

I don’t know as I was quite the opposite during those years to the point that years later an old high school classmate said ‘you were weird because you were too normal. You didn’t do anything.’

I just stayed completely quiet as I had no idea how else to get by n participating terrified n mystified me

But as long as it is harmless I don’t really mind. It’s like how smaller puppies often yap aggressively fr fun, but nothing more.

I think teenagers like that are testing things out, seeing what actions get which kind of reactions. They want to see what will get them the most/best kind of attention, especially from their friends.

Lol he was just being a teenager! He was probably complaining (loudly) about something with his friend. The exact 'groaning/weird noises' has happened to me, around me, and with me so many times. Seriously, its nothing weird its just...teenagers.
I remember this one time in Starbucks when we were waiting for exam scores. My friend groaned very loudly, slammed his head down on the table, and announced "im so f**ked". We slapped him upside the head, laughed a bit, and proceeded to mutually complain about our teachers.
Another time was when i shot a straw wrapper at a friend and she went through a very dramatic 'i am dying' act complete with death noises, chest clutching, almost falling from her chair, and begging for help from our other (dying laughing) friends. We were in a restaurant lol
Dont look to far into it. Its just typical behavior.

well i have a tween sister, who also makes a lot of act. i consider that is due partly to her extraversive personality, and partly to her age. why not, after all? what's so bad in theatrics that dont presue any goal exept, expressing oneself? they are young, they dont have movement constrictions, they can act. and are using it. the world would be a very dull, neutered place, if nobody bothered to add color and act to it.
