I think it might be a sensory preference, but I like to wear gloves. The sensation of something covering my hands seems calming and pleasant to me. It really doesn't matter what the material is, whether it be latex, leather, or cotton, as I'll generally like wearing these kinds of gloves.

I'm okay doing unpleasant things if it means I have to wear gloves. This can be things like cleaning the house or doing a fetal pig dissection lab for biology class. Usually, my hands are pretty warm, so I don't wear gloves unless the temperature is near or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

What do you think?

I'm uncoordinated enough without wearing gloves. Wearing gloves worsens my lack of coordination.

No. I refuse to wear them even in subzero temperatures because I was forced to wear them when I wasn't cold and they physically hurt me. My mom claimed she understood my sensory sensitivities to touch but in reality she didn't know Jack. She either didn't understand or just didn't care.

I only wear them when it's really cold and find it difficult to do stuff with my hands when them, even if they're thin ones.

I wore them during winter hikes in the mountains.

No, I only wear them if my hands would otherwise be cold.

And as others have already pointed out, it makes it more difficult to do things, or carry items

by the way, warrier120, you have a nice avatar :)

They're comforting when it's cold out and I need to keep my hands warm. Or when I wear rubber gloves while doing the dishes because I don't get greasy, dirty dishwater on my hands. But they're not so comforting when I try do do things I do very often like using a keyboard, drawing, making a craft, painting...

Where I live, it does not get too hot or cold

It has been years since I wore gloves

Except for work.

It is hard to clean the inside or outside of gloves

Putting them on and taking them off is not worth it

Shoes however, make me more comfortable

I wear them when it's very cold but i hate them. I do the roughest kind of yardwork barehanded.

i do get cold hands, and gloves are a great way to combat that, but wearing gloves decreases my dexterity in my fingers, and I'm always having to use my fingers for something or other. idle hands are boring hands!

I prefer my hands as bare as possible. If I have to choose which gloves I would wear (at all) I'd want one that is nicely fit, thin and breathable.
Anything else either wrong sized or too thick, things could get awkward. Not that fine motor itself is my problem, but the strength and pressure control that comes along with it. If I can't feel my hands' touch well, I'm very bound to break or drop something, because of my strength that seem to be partially lack of inhibition and deliberately having to hold back said strength respectively.

I do not mind if it makes my hands warm... Or not so warm. But there's this exclusive condition within my culture that has issues with temperatures -- I don't know what's the english equivalent of pasmado, but it's real and it's a real pain if it happens. It happens on my hands if I'm wearing certain types of cloth gloves or gloves that are thick enough. Not exactly to with putting it on and off repeatedly, more like straddling between ranges of temperatures.

These are all interesting responses. I actually was in an autism research group at a university in my state when I was younger and there was one girl who always wore gloves, no matter what.

I wear gloves a lot partly because of my OCD contamination issues so for a lot of the year I wear them whenever I

leave the house. I do find them comforting as well though, but I find my skin being covered in general comforting

particularly by form fitting things. I wear the soft wool type gloves that go in the wash not the stiff leather. I also

wear a very thin cotton pair to bed in winter so that my hands can sleep in almond oil.

They are a practical comfort, not a psychic one. When I use them for epoxy work, I treat them like seat belts - something you don't usually need. A friend of mine would use his gloves on the goo, and then leave the all the handles sticky.

I was going to say that I really dislike wearing gloves, then I remembered that I wear nitrile gloves every day at work. As long as my hands aren't too sweaty while I am wearing them, I logically like that they protect me from the chemicals and stuff that I work with.

I have a pair of giant fingerless gloves that look like they're made of carpet with paw prints printed on the palm. I really like wearing those gloves, especially when it is cold. I feel secure and warm and they are roomy enough for my hands to wiggle around inside.. (They're so ugly haha ... I think that's one of the best things about them).

On the other hand, I really dislike wearing fitted winter weather gloves if I have to do literally anything with my hands. I feel restricted and trapped a bit.

No, I don't like gloves. I only wear them either to warm my hands when it's cold, or protect my hands when doing something that could scratch them.
