While not everybody has the attention span or focus to read long posts this is also true:

I think with long posts that don’t get responses a couple of very different scenarios play out:
1. Long, rambling post of annoying-to-decipher word soup that gets ignored because it doesn’t feel worth the time and effort, or...
2. Well-written response that is so thorough and all-encompassing that there isn’t anything else to be added so a thread dies.
There are a few people who routinely say in 5 paragraphs what could easily be said in 5 sentences, but there are also people who would put a lot of thought and effort to make long but very insightful and well-written posts.
