Yesterday I was in the supermarket getting some groceries, and as I was queuing up to pay, the people packing their shopping on the next check-out accidentally dropped a glass of bolognaise mix and it went all over the floor with a mighty crash. As I looked at the mess of lovely bolognaise mix splattered all over the floor, I suddenly felt this surge of anxiety. I love bolognaise mix and I just imagined that how nicely it was all packed into the jar and put on the shelf ready to be cooked and eaten, but instead it was dropped, smashed, spilt everywhere and had to be mopped up and thrown away. It just felt tragic to me.

Does anyone else get anxious over silly things like this?

I have been known to get anxious over silly things like that. Quite often, in fact.

Been there, done that. What a waste. Sorry to hear that.

I'd probably feel sorry for the sauce. I would think "It was trying its best to be Bolognese sauce, waiting on the shelf hoping to be chosen..." and I'd picture it being very sad. I don't think it's unusual for autistic people to feel this way, or to personify items especially when they're discarded or unwanted. It's like The Island of Misfit Toys.

:(

Actually, yes it does happened.
Especially given that I have to work with all that I can only have, it's not something I can exactly easily afford to.

Could afford some levels of recklessness and haste on my part, but not waste.
Yet I've learnt a long time ago that if it happened, there's no use crying over it. :| Just take responsibility over it, and move on since one cannot simply undo an incident.

Didn't thought it's weird or unusual though, it just made some sense to me.

You should write fairy tales.
Your kind of sensitivity fits it.

Hello!
I have not been officially diagnosed, but I have had similar experiences.
When I was younger, I either read a book or watched a show about the Bernstein Bears. In it, the cubs broke the mom's lamp. I got super upset because I felt so bad for her and her lamp.
Good luck with your future endeavors!

It was just another widget. A million other jars of the stuff went down the assembly line as that one did that same week. Just another victim of attrition.

I only recently joined this forum..
Actually I relate to this! I'm unsure if it is exactly what you felt, but I would feel sorry for this happening, then think about the sauce as having had a purpose...and then it's purpose has gone to waste. I try to explain these thoughts, but it is rarely understood.
