Do you have any advice against noisy coworkers? I have tried earplugs, headphones and a quiet room, but they keep talking LOUD. Should I ask them to keep quiet? They seem to hate me, whenever I hush them.

Have you talked to your HR department or your manager about the problem?

I'm having the same problem at my job. People always speak loudly around my office, even if I ask them politely to be carefull.

I'm pretty sure humming should be avoided since some find it "passive-agressive" or disrepectful (even if talking loud is more disrespectful in my opinion).

After trying a lot of headphones, I finaly found some that are doing a great job at noise canceling. You should look for tight fitting earbuds. When it gets noisy, I use them to play some smooth music and really cannot hear anything. Both my productivity and my relation with my coworkers improved since!

I wish I could help you but I'm really struggling with this one. I'm on the verge of buying some $300 Bose noise canceling headphones because it's so bad in my office.

How bad you might ask?

Well, I tried earplugs at first and the noise of these middle aged women cackling like crows in the cubicle over pierced straight through. I tried putting on some standard headphones and turning on some white noise. That didn't work. I even turned the white noise way up to the point where it hurt my ears and could still hear the incessant cacklings from these demonic coworkers nearby. Then I put earplugs on and put the earphone over themand turned the volume way up on the white noise, still no dice.
