Herpes, strep, thrush, tobacco, spicy food, allergy, or sticking your tongue in places it doesn't belong.

I sometimes get a taste bud that seemingly randomly gets swollen and painful, sometimes on the tip of my tongue. No clue what causes it, it's just a single taste bud at a time and doesn't seem to coincide with what I eat or anything I've stuck in my mouth (one of my stims is chewing on things or messing with things with my teeth). Is it something like that, or is it the entire tip of your tongue?

Possible zinc deficiency?

Eating pineapple?

Thrush isn't about sexual activity. It's a yeast infection/overgrowth caused by Candida fungus.

People with HIV infections are susceptible to thrush. Maybe that's what he was thinking of.

Do you grind your teeth when you sleep? Maybe you're biting it and not aware of it.

That's what happens to me - I have to wear a mouth guard at night now.

No - it was just me showing my ignorance . For years I used to get white stuff in the creases of my legs . It was sometimes dry and sometimes quite wet . The creases of my legs could get quite sore . I never went to the doctor's as I was scared of being seen as a silly mental health patient .

I've had thrush in my mouth from taking my asthma preventer medication and not rinsing my mouth out afterwards. Quite painful and it made my tongue white. Had to take a spray called Nilstat to get rid of it.

A problem I have now that I realise it, is that I'm cutting my tongue on one of my back teeth which has gotten sharp, I don't know how. Will bring it up at the dentist when I go next.

In my case it's usually hard candy and sour candy(I  sour gummies :D ) - though some fruits do it to me too...
