I tend to have exaggerated gestures when I talk as well. I get the feeling it’s a part of being an Aspie, at least for some of us. I have a friend who is also an Aspie and he does it as well.

On the flip side, from my assessment one of the notes considered relevant was that I didn't use any gestures. I do have a few in my repertoire now (no, not just flipping the bird). I'm not sure how the right amount of gesticulation is quantified, but I guess more than nothing is expected.
Side note: "There was an exaggerated quality to your emphatic... gestures..." Isn't that the point of emphatic gestures?

My surname was apparently first found in Insubria in Italy before being in Cornwall . Gatti became Gatty . That was many centuries ago. I doubt I still have any of those neurotypical Italian genes .

I think it's about the correlation between the gestures you make and the situation at hand, how well you respond to it through them. You might unwillingly overreact, hence the diagnostic.
