At this point I'm sure everyone has heard about the coronavirus issues going on around the world. I am currently in a scary position of being sent home from my work abroad program in Germany. Our program's advice was to go home to the US as soon as possible. Amidst all this there is a lot of loss and stress and change. It's just been rough and I was wondering how other people deal with extreme and abrupt changes. I'm in the process of preparing to go home and it has been a very stressful and worrisome week. Lots of emotions and stress regarding having to leave so much behind so abruptly. It's the fact that all this is happening so quickly that has me in a shut down state.

I’ve been listening to music a lot and drinking herbal tea without caffeine. I’m kind of enjoying the break from people to be honest.

Ouch, glad that I wasn't abroad when all this started. Hang in there!

Personally, so far so good. But for me, it's only the first official day of isolation, so who knows where this goes. I'm working from home now, but it's not the stuff I usually do, so I'm a bit worried if I can really handle this or not. Not the mental part, but the fact that the tasks I got might be too hard.

I have a nephew who flew to Spain for vacation a few days ago. He posted the following video.

So I think that it is important for you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are thousands of people in the same predicament.

So my first suggestion is try an locate a few people in the same boat and work the problem together.

Thanks everyone  Per my program's advice and the uncertainty of everything, I'll be going back home to California. I'm terrified but I know that once I am home, it will feel safer :')
I have no way to support myself in Germany once program funding ends in June, and I would rather be with my family.
In the meantimes I'll be taking your advice!
