I heard on the news that people who come back to the country from abroad are put in a hotel for quarantine and can't leave their rooms for two weeks. They get their food delivered to their rooms by staff.

If this happened to you, suppose you had no choice but to come back to your country and were put in such a hotel, to what extent would it bother you? Your reaction would be...

I believe to many of us it would class as a comfort zone issue. The environment could probably be coped with for a day or two before the stress would start and get worse.

For the record, I dislike hotels. They're always too hot and noisy then you get the r soles who make as much noise as they can (so it seems to me) as they walk by waking me up.

It depends on the hotel.

The New York Ritz-Carlton?  Sure!

The Baghdad Ramadan Inn?  No way!

I wouldn’t mind if the food was decent, I had my tablet, and I had a nice view outside.

My nephew is in Australia with Coronavirus. He's had two positive tests three weeks apart. He's stuck there because he can't fly home when ill, and because of travel bans. If and when he eventually comes home we had already decided he'll have to stay in a hotel or airbnb because he can't be around any other family members here, during quarantine. We have immunocompromised status and everyone is high risk. I already have pneumonia. Anyway, he said he'd be happy in a hotel but I think it would be pretty risky in terms of germs. There isn't really any other option though, and I support the need for travellers to do this.

I could go to a hotel myself for free for as long as this virus persists. My house is being reconstructed by a house insurance claim and I've lost most of my living space. The renovation can't happen until the virus is finished, so my insurance will put me up in a hotel in the meantime. I thought about it, but in my personal situation I wouldn't want to. I want all the comforts of home, and I wasn't a recent traveller needing special accommodation in a hotel.

I hate noise, and it's a serious problem in my building. Drives me crazy.

My reaction would be "I'm thankful my country allowed me to come home at all". I would be grateful. I can't imagine thinking that I had the right to wander around my country infecting people for my personal leisure and enjoyment.

That's the beauty of it all. It was free!! !
Free stay, free food, free everything. The government paid for it all. After all, it was the government's decision those people stay in the hotel, and they don't really have a choice.

I would prefer to be at home as I can potter around with my trains and things, or just dream about new ideas etc. I can stay in an unfamiliar enviroment for a day or three, but this is assuming I can get out and explore. If I couldn't do that I would run for it even if it would mean certain death.
Having someone special or close with me may calm me down. :)

It would be horrible, no matter how nice and fancy. From time to time I have had to spend 2-3 days in a hotel with no where else to go and it was horrible.

As mentioned in previous posts they are often noisy places. This is what I would struggle with mainly.

I would probably feel trapped, but it would help if there was a window. But then again, if I had my phone, iPad, and a good book, it probably actually wouldn't be much different than my present situation, except I wouldn't get to go out to take my dog for walks. I'd feel more bored, but wouldn't actually be prevented from doing most of what I do all day. I'd certainly comply with it because I don't want the weight of anyone's severe illness or death on my shoulders, and even if I never developed symptoms, I'd think about all the people I'd had contact with and think "What if I was an asymptomatic carrier and got them sick, or even dead?" Better to spend the two weeks in a hotel room than risking infecting people with a potentially deadly pathogen.

If I didn't have to pay...
If I liked the food(I'm a very picky eater)...
If I had cable TV & my computer...
If the room was at a fairly comfortable temperature...
& my girlfriend was with me or when I was singe...

It would be like when I lived with my parents till I was 30 except a lot nicer cuz I wouldn't have people on my back about how I was being lazy by not working & how I needed to get a life.
