Anyone into astrology and consider how their aspie works with their sign. I'm a Leo. I'm very extroverted, I love people, I make friends easily, but I can get very very angry. Just curious about other fellow aspie's zodiac sign and what they think.

Astrology has no relevance to understanding ourselves or our place in the cosmos.  Modern advocates of astrology cannot account for the lack of an underlying basis for alleged astrological associations with terrestrial affairs, have no plausible explanation for the claims they make, and have not contributed anything of cognitive value to any field of empirical science.

This is completely aside from the fact that there are actually 13 'signs' (not 12) in the zodiac, all of different duration.  Also, modern-day astrologers use an ephemeris that has been out-of-date for nearly 2000 years!  The relative positions of the stars (and therefore the constellations, too) have shifted.  For example, many people who think they were born under the sign of Ares (the Ram) have actually been born under the sign of Pisces (the Fishes).

It's all superstitious nonsense.

Whatever Fnord's sign is, they apparently don't believe in astrology. :)

Pisces. Going in opposite directions at once. Does seem that way unless I get a handle on it.

The world has changed really fast, and 3,000 years ago, what passed for astronomers didn't totally understand how the Earth, Sun and Stars move.  The discoveries of recent centuries have shown that the Earth is vast, and as such the 12-month calendar (based on the phases of the moon) developed by the Babylonians by dividing the sky into 12 equal parts from looking at 12 distinct constellations by which the sun travels over the course of a year never really held true.

The radical change is due to the fact that the sky today is extremely different from what it used to be thousands of year ago and the Earth's axis no longer points in the same direction (due to axial precession).  The Babylonians intentionally left out Ophiuchus (the "Snake Bearer") in order to make a tidier match with their then-current 12-month calendar, deliberately ignoring the fact that the sun actually moves through 13 constellations instead of only 12.

The folks at NASA decided to do the math and here are the 13 Zodiac signs, according to real-world measurements.  Their start and end dates are as follows:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 to Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 to Mar. 11
Pisces: Mar. 11 to Apr. 18
Aries: Apr. 18 to May 13
Taurus: May 13 to Jun. 21
Gemini: Jun. 21 to Jul. 20
Cancer: Jul. 20 to Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 to Sep. 16
Virgo: Sep. 16 to Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 to Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 to Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 to Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 to Jan. 20

The Babylonians lived over 3,000 years ago.  They divided the zodiac into 12 equal parts.  They picked 12 constellations in the zodiac, one for each of the 12 divisions.  So, as Earth orbits the Sun, the Sun would appear to pass through each of the 12 parts of their "official" zodiac.  Since the Babylonians already had a 12-month calendar (based on the phases of the Moon), each month got a slice of the zodiac all to itself.

But even according to the Babylonians' own ancient stories, there were 13 constellations in the zodiac (Other cultures and traditions have recognized as many as 24 constellations in the zodiac.).  So the Babylonians picked one, Ophiuchus, to leave out.  Even then, some of the chosen 12 didn't fit neatly into their assigned slice of the pie and slopped over into the next one.

When the Babylonians first invented the 12 signs of zodiac, a birthday between about July 23 and August 22 meant being born under the constellation Leo.  Now, 3,000 years later, the sky has shifted because Earth's axis (North Pole) doesn't point in quite the same direction.

So the traditional Babylonian zodiac was arbitrarily designed from the very beginning and omitted 7.7 percent of its data merely for the sake of convenience!  This is the zodiac that is still in use today.

I've never noticed any real correlation between 'signs' and personality, whether in myself or others.
Maybe my chart got messed up because the nurse who looked like a sumo wrestler exerted a greater than expected gravitational pull because he was covering for the nurse they expected to be there. I guess I know who to blame for my entire life.

And he gives me a dirty look every time I look in the mirror. f****n' bastard. :|

I'm aware of what the Earth and sky did in the past several millennia, thanks.

I follow traditional astrology because it's traditional, not because it's remotely scientifically accurate. My tarot cards agree, besides.

If you want to update something to make it more useful, take on the Abrahamic monotheist faiths. :D

All I can say about astrology is that everyone seems to hate on Aquarius. I don't know why. Maybe the other signs just wish they had a cool soundtrack too. 8)

I use both because there are many people in the world who are willing to pay good money for a little "supernatural" guidance in their lives.  Some of us in the "psychic" business refer to them as "seekers", and there is a seeker born every minute.

I'm a Pisces.

I don't really identify with most of the personality traits generally associated with it, aside from having large, watery eyes. That one rings very true for me... especially when I have to cut onions (my eyes are so sensitive that even the slightest bit of onion in the air stings so much I can't open my eyes!)

Lately my good ol' deck of tarot cards have been giving me gloom. :skull:
I dunno why, it's generally positive except for the last couple of months.

I'm a scientific type of person and it's all in good fun; it satisfies my need for mysticism and whimsy.

Will have to see what my cards have to say these days.

I'm a skeptic who's experienced enough strange things to become convinced there's something to them. A friend of mine did a reading once using some animal cards I'd never seen before. There was a card with a goose which came up in the reading which we spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out. We finally gave up and went to pick up a pizza. That's when the Canada goose flew about a foot in front of my windshield. :D Some of this stuff may well end up being part of a science we haven't discovered yet, at some point.

You have a great need for other people to like and admire you.  You tend to be critical of yourself.  You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage.  While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them.  Your sexual adjustment has presented problems for you.  Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside.  At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.  You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.  You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others’ statements without satisfactory proof.  You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.  At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved.  Some of your aspirations tend to be unrealistic.

i asked an indian astrologer why my horoscope was so inaccurate about certain things [lack of worldly success and popularity] despite every chart i've had made saying otherwise [scorpio rising sign], he told me that those charts were wrong and that i really was afflicted libra rising sign. that didn't explain much to me, it might to a professional astrologer, but he told me if i wanted my life to improve i had to do what he called "propitiations."

Sun signs are social ice-breakers.

I don't think they even offer much insight into what astrology would claim to tell you about your life - ie. completely different messages between reading your sun sign in the paper vs. throwing in rising, lunar nodes, all your planets in your houses and signs, asteroids, squares, trines, orbs, etc..
